Calculate dilutions quickly and easily with this online dilution calculator. It supports both mass/volume and molarity calculations.

Mass/Volume Units

Serial Dilution

How to Use

  1. Mass/Volume or Molarity: Choose the appropriate section.
  2. Enter Values: Input known values. Leave one field blank — the calculator determines the missing value from C₁V₁ = C₂V₂.
  3. Calculate: Click the “Calculate” button.
  4. Copy Result: Click the “Copy Result” button to copy the result to your clipboard.
  5. Clear: Click “Clear All” to reset.

Serial Dilution

Expand the Serial Dilution section to generate a table of sequential dilutions.

  • Stock Concentration — starting concentration
  • Dilution Factor — fold dilution per step (e.g., 2 for 2-fold)
  • Number of Steps — how many dilutions to generate
  • Volume per Step — total volume of each dilution

The table shows each step’s concentration, volume to transfer from the previous step, and volume of diluent to add.

Mass/Volume Dilutions

Uses C₁V₁ = C₂V₂, where C₁ = stock concentration, V₁ = volume from stock, C₂ = final concentration, V₂ = final solution volume.

Molarity Dilutions

Same formula (M₁V₁ = M₂V₂) with molarity. Supports mole-based units (mol, mmol, µmol, nmol) — enter molar mass to convert between moles and molarity.

Important Notes

  • Assumes ideal solutions.
  • Always use appropriate laboratory safety practices.
